Margate Quarry Big Situated in the gracious setting of the beautiful Ivungu River Conservancy, NPC Aggregate’s Margate Quarry has become a paradigm for the combination of productive quarrying coupled with a responsible attitude towards the environment and employee safety. The Margate Quarry, assisted by the Marburg Quarry, serves the building community inland to the Kokstad area and north to Hibberdene and south to Bizana. All products from the quarry are SABS approved. Complemented by NPC Concrete’s South Coast ready-mix plant, the Margate Quarry is the anchor supply for the concrete and aggregate on the South Coast.

In recognition of the NPC Margate Quarry’s responsible approach, ASPASA (Aggregate and Sand Producers Association of Southern Africa) has awarded them with the highly placed 5 Fish Eagle Award for environmental management and the equally impressive 5 Shields for their actions to ensure employee safety.

At the face: Aggregates are mined at the quarry ‘face’ and then loaded by excavator into transhipment vehicles such as articulated dump trucks (ADTs) for transfer to the crusher apparatus.

The beauty of Margate Quarry: NPC Aggregate’s attempts to foster an environmentally responsible quarry have paid off. They recently received the acclaimed 5 Shields Award from ASPASA.
